The main entry became an open-air, dogtrot breezeway, funneling breezes and confounding the expectations of the simple white stucco exterior. The architect/owners commitment to light and the outdoors is matched by a belief in the sensuous, vital quality of materials- Terra Cotta block, Wood (oak, longleaf pine, cypress, ipe´), encaustic tile, steel, board formed concrete and venetian plaster. In fact the whole house is dedicated to Austin’s unique, elemental way of living, from its charming historic character to the enticing swimming pool, with every exceptional, mindful touch in between.
