The Problem We Are Solving
Here is the reality of home touring in 2026. Buyers are busy. Schedules conflict. You drive 45 minutes across Austin in traffic to see a house and know within 30 seconds it is not the one. Sellers are tired of keeping their home spotless for showings that cancel last minute. And agents are stretched thin coordinating it all.
I kept asking myself: what if we could give buyers a real, immersive walkthrough of a home without anyone needing to be there?
Not a slideshow. Not a Matterport scan from two years ago. A live, real-time tour they could experience from their couch.
How It Works
NRG Drone Tours is built on a custom autonomous flight system paired with smart home integration. When a buyer books a showing through our system, here is what happens:
1. The drone arrives at the property and communicates with the home’s smart lock via Bluetooth. A small articulating arm interfaces with the door handle. The lock disengages, the door opens, and the drone enters.
2. On entry, the drone connects to the home’s smart hub and activates what we call “Showing Mode.” Lights turn on room by room as the drone moves through the house. Blinds adjust. The temperature has already been set to 72 degrees an hour before arrival.
3. The drone flies a pre-mapped route through the home at eye level, capturing 4K stereoscopic video in real time. It knows the floor plan. It knows where to pause. It knows to hover at the kitchen island so you can really take in the countertops.
What the Buyer Experiences
This is the part that gets me excited.
The buyer puts on their Apple Vision Pro, sits on their couch, and they are in the home. Full spatial video. They can look around naturally as the drone moves through each room. They hear the space. They get a sense of scale that photos and even video tours can never deliver.
And here is the best part. I am right there with them.
I join every tour live via video feed. While the drone handles the flying, I handle the context. I can point out the upgraded fixtures, explain the neighborhood, answer questions in real time. You get the convenience of a virtual tour with the expertise of an agent who has sold over 2,000 homes in Austin.
Neither of us has to be at the property. You are on your couch. I am at my desk. And the drone is doing the walking for both of us.
The NRG Entry Kit
For homes that are not already smart-enabled, we developed the NRG Entry Kit. It is a plug-and-play package that listing agents install before the first drone tour:
- Smart lock (replaces existing deadbolt in under 10 minutes)
- Smart plugs for lamps and accent lighting
- Smart thermostat integration
- A small hub that connects everything and communicates with the drone
The kit stays with the listing for the duration and gets removed at closing. Simple.
