How to Ask Claude What Your Home Is Worth

Claude cannot tell you what your home is worth. Ask it cold and you get a guess or a polite refusal, and honestly the refusal is the better answer. But add one free connector to your Claude account and about 30 seconds later you get a value range built from actual closed sales in the Austin MLS, the same feed I use to price listings.

So the model was never the missing piece. The data was. Out of the box Claude has no MLS access, no sold prices, no idea that the house behind yours went under contract over asking last month (it does not know the house behind yours exists). A connector, also called an MCP tool, plugs the live feed in. I built one for the Austin area, and lets get the honest part out of the way first.

It only covers the Austin area. Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, Caldwell, Burnet, and Blanco counties. If your house is in Dallas or Denver or Des Moines, this thing does nothing for you, and I would rather tell you that now than after you make an account.

Set it up in about a minute

  1. Go to claude.ai and sign in. A free account is fine.
  2. Open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
  3. Enter this URL: https://mls.neuhausre.com/mcp
  4. A sign-up screen comes up. Name and email, plus an optional phone number. Free, under a minute.
  5. Start a new chat and ask: “What’s my home worth?”

And if you would rather not hunt through settings menus, neuhausre.com/claude goes straight to the setup page with the same steps.

I am not a developer, by the way. I got tired enough of AI inventing addresses that I learned enough to build the connector anyway, which took considerably longer than I told my wife it would.

What actually happens when you ask

Claude looks the property up in the MLS record first. It usually already has the beds, baths, square footage, and the last sale, so it confirms those with you instead of interrogating you. Then it asks what a real agent asks. What condition is the house in, what have you updated, and why do you want the number. Selling, protesting your taxes, refinancing, or just curious.

Answer honestly, because the report adapts to what you say. A tax protest number and a listing number are not the same conversation (one of those you want low, right).

About 30 seconds later you get a range. Not a magic number, a range, built from closed MLS sales near you. Not tax records. Not a black box estimate.

What it cannot know

It has never been inside your house. Sounds obvious right, but that is the whole ballgame. Condition, a remodel, a view, a busy street, these move real prices by tens of thousands in either direction, and the report says so out loud instead of pretending otherwise.

Kahneman’s whole thing is that the first number you hear anchors every number after it, which is exactly why a confident wrong estimate is worse than no estimate at all. I ran that experiment on a house I know cold and the generic AI number missed by about 11%. I have also watched sellers defend a bad automated number for three months. (One of them eventually came back and listed at mine. Not bad.)

Ok, and you can keep asking. “What would it be worth fully updated?” “What was the closest comparable sale?” “How is my ZIP trending?” Each one reruns the analysis live instead of dressing up the first answer. If you want to go deeper on the comp side, here is how to pull real Austin comps in about 30 seconds.

And every report ends with a free full CMA from me. A licensed human who goes and looks at the actual property, because that part still has to happen.

Thinking About Selling?

The first step is knowing what your home is actually worth. Our free tool uses real MLS comps — not Zestimate guesswork.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Claude tell me what my house is worth?
Not on its own. Claude has no MLS access, so a cold question gets a guess or a refusal. With the free Austin MLS connector added to your account, it returns a value range built from real closed sales near the property.
Is the Austin MLS connector free?
Yes. A free Claude account works, and the connector sign-up asks only for a name and email. It takes under a minute.
Does this work outside Austin?
No. Coverage is the Austin area only: Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, Caldwell, Burnet, and Blanco counties. Homes outside those counties will not return a result.
Is the estimate the same as an appraisal?
No. It is a range calculated from closed MLS sales, and it has never seen the inside of the home. An appraisal is a licensed opinion of value, usually based on an actual inspection of the property.

Run it, then let me check the work

So go run it on your own address. It is free, it takes a minute, and the range you get back is built from real closings instead of a robot’s opinion of your neighborhood. But if the number looks off, or you are close enough to selling that being wrong by 5% actually costs you money, reach out and I will do the full CMA myself. Office line is (512) 366-3270. That one is free too, whether you ever list with me or not.

Lets go find out what your house is actually worth.
